Concept Note for the 1st ESG Breakfast Meeting – GreenRock ESG Advisory

Date: Friday 8th August, 2025

Venue: Four Points by Sheraton

Time: 7:30am – 10:00am

Theme: Navigating ESG Compliance for Inclusive Growth and Global Competitiveness

Uganda’s private sector has been progressively adaptive to the effects of the various ESG regulations and other related developments. Many professional bodies and associations have also announced the adoption of various sustainability disclosure standards, subsequently designing a roadmap for their adoption. The move has marked a significant shift in how businesses will report on their environmental, social, and governance (ESG) practices, setting a new dispensation for sustainability across the country.

As ESG and sustainability reporting gains global importance, there is a crucial need for governments, private sector, Not for Profit sector, academia and other stakeholders to shape their preparedness to adequately respond to these trends, while navigating the changing geopolitical landscape, the energy transition, AI and its effect on ESG data, and policy development. Integrating ESG and sustainability into corporate strategies and operations will require careful consideration in corporate governance practice.

It is against this background that GreenRock ESG Advisory has organised a high level ESG Breakfast meeting under the theme: “Navigating ESG Compliance for Inclusive Growth and Global Competitiveness.” The event will focus on unpacking ESG with emphasis on ESG reporting and compliance internally and across the supply chain, trade and sustainability.

We invite companies which seriously think about sustainability and would like to prepare for the implementation of ESG measures to the ESG Breakfast. We’ll show that ESG is not only a statutory obligation, but also a great opportunity to build company value, strengthen competitive advantage and eliminate risks. It is also a key step towards the sustainable transformation of any organisation.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Experts from various key sectors will share with the participants the key information on ESG regulations and related requirements for companies. We’ll talk about the biggest challenges in implementing a sustainability strategy, modern approaches to social responsibility, environmental friendliness and stewardship, up to date governance systems and non-financial reporting related to ESG.

Participants will network with fellow ESG implementers, consult regulators, learn how to implement successful ESG strategies and find out about the latest global trends in ESG.

We’ll also hear about ESG success stories from selected companies. The ESG Breakfast is a great avenue to learn more about the most important aspects of ESG and learn how to turn this knowledge into proper measurable action.

The breakfast participants will get a chance to recommend necessary ESG regulatory, implementation or any other improvements that can holistically enhance the ESG agenda.

Post breakfast, we shall publish a compendium showing key findings, lessons and recommendations from various stakeholders and regulators setting the stage for bigger national and regional conversations.
